Finally: No more Windows

I have finally done it – migrated my desktop at work to Kubuntu Linux. The biggest hassle was to get my dual video cards to initialize properly. But after I have changed the BIOS setting to first initialize the on-board VIA card, Kubuntu manages to assign a decent screen resolution to it. Both displays, my 19” CRT monitor and my 17” TFT now work at 1280×1024, the CRT even with a frequency of 75Hz which Windows never managed to set.
Kubuntu is quite an amazing system. A single CD download, it contains a slick and modern Debian-based distribution with all the tools I need, including the full OpenOffice2. Adding Last.fm, Firefox, Thunderbird, and Sunbird, completed my tool chest.
And if I really need to develop and test for InternetExplorer, a VMware Player sits there obediently awaiting my commands – I am happy!
